Student Nurse Organization Educating the Community

The Student Nurse Organization (SNO) has been quite busy since the arrival of 2008. There are several projects that they have been working on. First, SNO helped to sign up donors for the most recent Red Cross blood drive on SCC's campus. With the help of SNO, the Red Cross was able to collect 33 pints of blood, which will help save 99 lives.

Renewal Retreat at SCC

The Renewal Retreat, An Evening of Workshops, was held on Thursday, January 31st, 2008. Students were welcomed by Girls Like Us, Inc. CEO and Executive Director, Pamela Gray, as she asked, "What's your mission?" Members of the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program Advisory Board organized the retreat for students to take advantage of training on time management and organization, surrounding one's self with positive people and managing stress by working with others.

SCC Honor Society Inducts 73 Students

Phi Theta Kappa, International Honor Society of the Two-Year College, at SCC has received a paragon award from the international organization again this year for increasing our membership. Seventy-three students were inducted on Monday, March 10th, 2008, the largest number of students accepting membership, ever, in an academic year at SCC.

Soldiers Angels

As SCC students attend classes, chit chat in the Student Union and stress over cramming for an exam, the men and women of our Armed Forces fight for our freedom. Last fall, the students in the EOF Club adopted a soldier named Jordan Puga. Each month the students prepare a care package and send it overseas to show their support.
