The Powelton Village Civic Association will be presenting design ideas to Drexel regarding the proposal to close Race Street between 33rd and 34th streets, according to Mike Zuckerman, a member of the board of the PVCA.

The proposal for the streets to close will involve creating a North Mall area around the freshman residence hall, but construction has not yet started because Race Street has not been closed, according to Brian Keech, vice president for Government Affairs and Community Relations.

The Office of Enrollment Services recently recommended that the $8,000 a year merit-based Trustee Scholarship given to twenty students each semester be eliminated. Although the fate of the scholarship has yet to be determined, President Dan Weiss said the decision has less to do with the argument against merit-based awards than it does with a reallocation of funds to need-based scholarships.

Wharton senior Jonathan Hayman was implicated in a plan to scam a Connecticut casino on Sept. 20.

Hayman, 21, was charged with sixth-degree larceny after being at a blackjack table at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn.

The dealer and one other player at the table were charged with first-degree larceny and allegedly conspired to cheat the casino out of more than $16,000, Connecticut state police said.

Rowan University held its first investiture ceremony on Sept. 25 in the Enyon Ballroom in the student center to celebrate Michael Donovan as the Charles & Lucille King Family Foundation Chair in Radio/Television/Film.

The Charles & Lucille King Foundation was created by Diana King in 1988 in honor of her parents, the creators of King World Productions, who started their multimillion dollar syndication company in 1964 by purchasing the distribution rights to "The Little Rascals" reruns, where they leased them to television stations, keeping one-third of the licensing fees.

PrintPODs, kiosks for high-quality printing on the go, have arrived on Saint Joseph's University's campus.

Global Print Systems Incorporated, the maker of the PrintPOD, is running a landmark trial program for its remote printers at Saint Joseph's. Three PrintPOD machines are currently installed, one on the second floor of Campion Student Center and one at each of the two Lancaster Court Apartment buildings.

Although the College is more than 250 years old, administrators are trying to keep as up-to-date as possible with the latest networking trends.

As part of this push, the College developed a Facebook page last spring.

Matthew Winkel, professional Web developer and adjunct professor, Matthew Golden, executive director of Communications and Media Relations, and David Adrian, sophomore computer science major, built the site together after Winkel heard about the idea at a conference.
